  • Bisphenol A (BPA) Analysis in Diapers

BPA, also known as an endocrine disrupter commonly used in many products that can be used in daily life, is a chemical substance that can be found in bottles, water carboys, food storage containers and plastic bottles. Although the use of BPA-containing bottles and other baby materials is prohibited in our country, it is still not possible to remove them from other daily uses.

When we cut a diaper with scissors, we see that it consists of three main layers:

1- Inner layer: This part that touches your baby's skin is made of some kind of plastic material.
2- Middle layer: The middle layer which absorbs the liquids coming from the cloth consists of pulp and super absorbent polymers.
3- Outer layer: The outer layer, which is waterproof, is also made of a kind of plastic material.

As it can be seen that the diaper is mainly made of plastic. It is also important whether these plastics have Bisphenol A or not. Because it is in direct contact with the skin.

Due to the possible side effects of BPA, the presence of BPA in the diaper is very important for the health of the baby.

It would be appropriate to use products that declare that there is no BPA in the diaper.
