Many amendments have been made to meat products in relation to the Et Communiqué on Meat, Prepared Meat Mixtures and Meat Products an published in the Official Gazette on 29.01.2019.

The most fundamental of these changes can now be used in chicken and turkey emulsified meat products (chicken salami, chicken sausage, chicken ham) provided that the mechanically separated poultry meat (MAKE) is indicated on the label. This meat is known as the most economical and cheap meat in the world.

Products such as salami sausage, head meat, can be used only by specifying on the label.
In addition, meatballs production in enterprises such as butchers and grocery stores were previously limited to 10 kg. That limit has now been removed.
Previously, it was only allowed to mince turkey as poultry meat, but chicken minced meat could also be offered on the condition that it is now frozen.
While the fat content of chicken doner was 15% in the previous communiqué; it has been increased to 20% with the new communiqué.

As the product name, instead of fermented sausage, only sausage will be used.

The adaptation period of enterprises until the end of the year; however, as the changes do not present a negative situation for them, we will be able to see these changes on the shelves as soon as possible.

Therefore, consumers will have to be more careful especially when buying products such as salami and sausages and they will have to read their labels in detail when purchasing such products.
