  • The Power in the Kitchen Against Cancer: OLIVE OIL

Olea europea means Latin olive tree. This tree, which is the symbol of peace and peace for centuries, takes place in our tables with its fruits. In our country, awareness about the value of olives and olive oil is relatively new. Therefore, the importance of olive oil should be emphasized. Our universities should do more scientific studies in this field.

Cancer is the most common cause of death in today's world and is subject to constant news.

As it is known, the most important advice for preventive nutrition against cancer is Mediterranean diet. Olive oil is the sine qua non of the Mediterranean diet.

In recent years, many scientific studies have been conducted on the protective effect of olive oil against cancer. Olive oil plays an important role in preventing cancer development by chemical means.

Research shows that healthy eating can prevent 30-35% of all cancers.

Olive oil contains 230 different compounds. The efficacy of these compounds (particularly oleic acid, oleocantal, squalen, oleuropein, hydroxytyrosol) as a supportive agent in the treatment of cancer has also been scientifically proven.

Oleic acid: oleic acid constituting 80% of the total fatty acid profile causes the death of cancer cells by suppressing HER2 / erbB-2 and decreasing their growth.

Oleocanthal (Oleocantal): It is one of the phenolic compounds in olive oil. It has been reported to have antioxidative, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antitumoral activity. Oleocanthalin has been confirmed in vivo and in vitro in many types of cancers such as anticancer activity, breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, leukemia and melanoma.

Squalen (Squalene): Squalen, shark liver oil and extra virgin olive oil is a high amount of triterpene hydrocarbon. The lack of cancer in the shark has been associated with a high level of squalene in the shark.

Oral squalene uptake has been shown to chemically inhibit tumor formation in the colon, lung and glands.

Therefore, it is stated in the literature that olive oil can be used as a support in chemotherapy due to its high squalen level.

Oleuropein: In vivo studies have demonstrated anti-cancer activity against most types of cancer.

Hydroxytyrosol: In vivo and in vitro studies have shown that it has anticancer activity that inhibits the spread, spread and progression of cancer.

With the hope of preserving the olive oil and olive oil, which has thousands of years of value in this land...
