Determination of anionic active substance
Today, linear alkyl benzene sulfonate (LAS) is widely used as active ingredient in the production of detergents. The fact that it eliminates the foam problem experienced especially by detergent producing companies has led to the use of LAS instead of alkyl benzene sulphonate (ABS) as active ingredient since the 1960s. Of course, this active substance is also controlled.
In 2005, a communiqué was issued by the Ministry of Health and details of the tests were explained in this communiqué. The Communiqué on Biy Test Methods for Biodegradability of Anionic, Nonionic, Ampholytic, Cationic Surfactants and Biodegradability of Anionic and Nanionic Surfactants in Detergents de also explains how the control should be performed. Within the scope of the related communiqué, the rate of degradability of anionic and nonionic substances in detergents should be more than 80%. The ministry prohibited the introduction of detergents containing active ingredients with a biodegradability of less than 80%.

Of course, these tests need to be carried out in the laboratory. The test should be carried out in an accredited laboratory based on the TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard.
In one of these tests, TS 5606 surfactants - detergents - are carried out in acidic medium to determine the hydrolysis-resistant anionic active ingredient. This method is used to determine the amount of anionic materials that are resistant to hydrolysis in acidic medium.
TS 5607 surfactants - detergents - alkaline hydrolyzable anionic active substances - can also be tested by the determination of hydrolysable and non-hydrolysable anionic active substances. In this method, it is aimed to determine the content of anionic active substance which can be hydrolysable and non-hydrolysable.
In laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technology, tests are carried out in a very short time and the results are conveyed.
