MICROBIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

The analysis of bacteria, which must be tested, is carried out in a laboratory environment by our experienced teams. Therefore, when you purchase a microbiological analysis package, all bacteria that are required to be analyzed are examined, and a relevant report is prepared and sent to you. Analysis packages are a much more economical option, so they are preferred more by cosmetics manufacturers. Saniter is a leading accredited cosmetics laboratory, providing comprehensive cosmetic analysis services to all cosmetics companies.

The Importance of Microbiological Testing in Cosmetics

Microbiological testing is important for preventing potential skin diseases and allergic reactions by determining that cosmetic products do not contain pathogenic microorganisms. In addition, these analyses may reveal differences in physical properties such as color, texture, and appearance of the products, along with organoleptic changes. These changes have negative effects both in terms of microbiology and quality.

According to the guidelines published by the Turkish Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals Agency, cosmetic products must be analyzed to determine the presence of certain bacteria, and the results must be reported. You can quickly conduct your thesis studies on the bacteria that must be analyzed under this standard, titled "Guidelines for Microbiological Control of Cosmetic Products," by purchasing a microbiological analysis package.

Key Microbiological Analysis for Cosmetic Products

Limit values for basic microbiological analyses of cosmetics have been updated numerous times. Although it may change from time to time, the necessity of microbiological analysis of cosmetics has always been emphasized. The Cosmetics Regulation was published in 2005, however this regulation does not publish any limit values regarding the microbiological limits of cosmetics.

Total Aerobic Mesophilic Bacteria Count

Our laboratory performs an analysis called Aerobic Mesophilic Bacteria Detection and Enumeration, also briefly referred to as aerobic colony counting. In this analysis, a specific percentage of the sample is taken, and then a dilution is added to this sample. Immediately afterwards, the seeds are inoculated onto a culture medium under ideal conditions and incubated. According to the Guidelines for safety assessment of cosmetics products, the total aerobic mesophilic bacterial count should be less than 1000 cfu/g.

Specific Pathogen Screening

According to the safety assessment guidelines for cosmetic products, pathogenic microorganisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans should absolutely not be present in finished cosmetics.

Yeast and Mold Enumeration

We are conducting our analysis in accordance with the relevant guidelines published by the Turkish Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals Agency. Total fungal and yeast count should be less than 1000 cfu/g.

Preservative Efficacy Testing

The test used to determine the effectiveness of preservatives in cosmetic products is called a "preservative efficacy testing”. Preservative Efficacy Test is an important test performed on cosmetic products. Many cosmetic products contain preservatives to ensure their microbiological safety. The preservatives used for this purpose must maintain their properties throughout the product's shelf life. This test is conducted to assess the effectiveness of preservatives. In addition to passing microbiological cosmetic testing, products must also pass preservative efficacy testing.

The preservative used in the product formula must have antimicrobial protective properties. Preservative efficacy tests are among the primary tests conducted to demonstrate that a cosmetic product is microbiologically safe for its stated shelf life.

Advanced Cosmetic Analysis at Saniterlab Laboratory

Following our cosmetic safety tests for all bacteria, the report indicates whether or not those bacteria were detected in the product. The report will then be sent to you very shortly. However, you can also contact us immediately to have the necessary analysis studies carried out on the raw materials you use in cosmetic production. You can also benefit from our laboratory analysis services for detecting bacteria that don't necessarily require analysis according to specific standards but can compromise the hygiene of products.
